In this section you will be able to find out more detailed information about our efforts with our local communities and our working partnerships.
At The Southern Co-operative, we are committed to playing a genuine and active role in our communities. Working in partnership with local community partners who share our values ensures we address the issues that matter most to our communities, and through our combined efforts we achieve so much more and have a far greater impact.

Our support for our communities takes many forms, including charitable donations, community partnerships (see below), volunteering, fundraising and more.

Whizz-Kidz is our corporate charity partner 2014/15. A national charity with a local focus, Whizz-Kidz provides disabled children with the essential wheelchairs and other mobility equipment they need to lead fun and active childhoods. Find out more on our dedicated charity partner page

The Create & Cook Competition is a fun, innovative cookery competition for secondary schools in Hampshire, West Sussex and the Isle of Wight, run by Fit2Cook Food Education and sponsored by The Southern Co-operative. The competition aims to engage young people with local food, the important issues of food provenance and rural sustainability.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is the only charity across the two counties dedicated to conserving, protecting and enhancing local wildlife. It manages over 50 wildlife reserves and provides advice and support to farmers and landowners, as well as to community groups on how they can help their local patch.

Catch 22

Catch 22 work directly with young people to help them steer clear of crime or substance misuse. They encourage them to do the best they can in school or college and to develop new skills for work, live independently on leaving care or custody and play a full part in their local community.

Hampshire Fare

Hampshire Fare is a not-for-profit community interest company, representing local producers, hospitality venues, shops and cookery schools. It campaigns to heighten the awareness and consumption of Hampshire's quality produce.

Dorset Wildlife Trust

Dorset Wildlife Trust is the largest conservation charity in Dorset. [delete members] Its work extends to influencing others who affect our wildlife and to promoting a better understanding and appreciation of wildlife by the public. It also offers advice to landowners and managers.

Primary Authority LBRO allows local authorities to make an offer of valuable support to their business community, aligning their regulatory role with corporate commitments to ensure that the local economy prospers, sowing the seeds for a new way of regulating businesses that are committed to compliance.
Drink Aware

Drink Aware is an independent UK-wide charity which aims to change the UK's drinking habits for the better, by promoting responsible drinking and finding innovative ways to challenge the national drinking culture to help reduce alcohol misuse and minimise alcohol-related harm.

Sussex Wildlife Trust

Sussex Wildlife Trust is the leading nature conservation organisation covering East Sussex, West Sussex, Brighton and Hove. Its aim is to conserve the Sussex landscape, wildlife and its habitats and to use its knowledge and expertise to help the people of Sussex to enjoy, understand and take action to this end.

The Eye Project

The Eye Project E.Y.E stands for Eco, Young and Engaged. The initiative is designed for young people who want to make a difference to their local environment. It organises annual eco-summits bringing school children together to learn, discuss and share ideas.  

Campaign to Protect Rural England

Campaign to Protect Rural England (Hampshire) campaigns for a beautiful and living countryside. It works to protect, promote and enhance our towns and countryside to make them better places to live, work and enjoy and to ensure that the countryside is protected for now and future generations.

Hampshire Chamber of Commerce
Hampshire Chamber of Commerce represents businesses of all sizes and sectors from across the County of Hampshire and beyond, delivering the best products and services, business information and advice to help businesses grow and prosper.
Hanover Community Association

The Hanover Community Association is a charity that helps to improve the quality of life in Hanover and manage the Hanover Centre for the community. It is managed by local people, is financially independent and works with Hanover 10:10 to reduce the environmental impact of its building and activities. 

Fareham Community Savers

Fareham Community Savers is a community project aimed at reducing the impact of door-step and pay day lenders by encouraging Credit Union membership and developing money management skills.  It is sponsored by The Southern Co-operative, Fareham Borough Council and First Wessex.

Shaping The Future of Portsmouth

Shaping The Future of Portsmouth, working with the City Council and the Education Sector is on a determined path to raise awareness and understanding of the outstanding career and work opportunities that exist within the City. The Southern Co-operative is pleased to play a part in the annual Portsmouth Opportunities Fair at Portsmouth Guildhall.
