As part of The Southern Co-operative’s community involvement, colleagues and members are encouraged to volunteer their time for good causes or for environmental projects. From scrub-clearing in protected wildlife sites, to counselling or giving a hand at a local school and even supporting the Football Charity walk, our colleagues have done it all!
As proof of that, we are proud to say that in the past couple of years we have exceeded our yearly target for volunteering. In 2010, we aimed for 2,000 hours and we achieved more than 2,700.
Figures have yet to be finalised for 2011 but we believe we will beat our target of 3000 hours making this the most productive year yet!
If you have a volunteering opportunity and would like The Southern Co-operative to get involved, please do not hesitate to talk to your local store.
And if you are a colleague or member looking to do some volunteering work, why not go to www.do-it.org.uk to find what’s available in your local area?
