Member Education
Introductory Co-operative Education Programme
The Introductory Co-operative Education Programme was launched in October 2007. The Certificate is aimed at co-operative members who wish to extend their skills and knowledge of the broader context of the movement, but do not necessarily wish to stand for election to the Board.
If you are interested in joining the Introductory Co-operative Education Programme, please contact us by clicking here.
Potential Future Director Programme
The Board welcomes contested elections and encourages member participation in the electoral process. Because member involvement is central to our co-operative identity, the Board is keen to attract the potential directors of tomorrow from among our members.
The Potential Future Directors Programme was established in the spring of 2002 to provide sponsored training and support for Southern Co-operatives’ members who may be interested in standing for election to the Board of Directors within the foreseeable future.
The Diploma, is designed to prepare non professional members for service on the Board should they be successful at a future election. It also aims to ensure a continued pool of candidates with a broad range of skills required to support the future success of the Society and to protect our mutual status.
There were 4 weekend courses run in 2007. In addition, the Potential Future Directors were invited to attend 5 midweek courses run for the Board.
