Lisa Grant from Eastleigh was picked as the lucky winner of a Local Flavours hamper in a free prize draw run by The Southern Co-operative as part of this year’s Hampshire Food Festival.
Lisa’s hamper was filled with food and drink from The Southern Co-operative’s Local Flavours range, available in selected stores across Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Sussex. Lisa, who was picked as the winner from over 1150 entries, said: “I love cooking and using local ingredients, so I couldn’t have won a better competition than this fabulous hamper of local goodies from The Southern Co-operative; we are in culinary heaven!”
Lisa was presented with her hamper by Kate Hibbert, The Southern Co-operative’s Category Manager for Local Flavours at Jude’s in Twyford near Winchester, whose ice cream is stocked in the stores’ Local Flavours range. Kate said: “As part of our co-operative ethos, supporting our local communities is an integral part of our business, and championing local producers is one way that we can do this. We have 68 producers from Hampshire and Isle of Wight supplying 700 lines food and drink to our Local Flavours range, and this is increasingly popular with our customers. The Hampshire Food Festival is a good way to celebrate this.” Lisa was also treated to lots of Jude’s ice cream to try!
Mike Wright, Chairman of Hampshire Fare which organisers the Hampshire Food Festival, said: “The Southern Co-operative is a major supporter of local food producers. The larger food retailers are often criticised but locally we have one that supports the Hampshire Food Festival and the work Hampshire Fare is doing to promote local food. We are proud to work with them.” The Southern Co-operative is a corporate partner of Hampshire Fare, organisers of the Hampshire Food Festival.
The Southern Co-operative’s Local Flavours range is available in selected stores across Hampshire, including Alderholt, Alresford, Bishops Waltham, Clanfield, Denmead, Emsworth, Hayling Island, Lee on Solent, Milford on Sea, Odiham, Overton, Romsey (High Street), Stockbridge, Tadley, Titchfield and Wickham.
