Welcome to the Local Flavours page
As an independent regional retailer in southern England, it’s vital that we play a pivotal role in supporting local food producers and the rural economy; this is very much part of our business ethics as a co-operative. Our Local Flavours range, which we first introduced in 2007 on the Isle of Wight and then extended across southern England as demand has increased, promotes local distinctiveness and is very popular with our customers.
Southern Co-op’s Local Flavours range supports farmers and producers, bringing you the best local food and drink from across southern England.
Community support is fundamental to the business ethos of Southern Co-op. This includes working with an increasing number of local food and drink producers who supply our ‘Local Flavours’ range in selected stores.
Every county where Southern Co-op trades has a bespoke Local Flavours range sourced from within county or bordering counties, available in selected stores. This may include cheeses, yogurts, cream, ice cream, cakes and baked goods, sandwiches, wine, chutneys, preserves, seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and fish, juices, beer (the range varies by store).
We organise free or heavily subsidised outings for our members to visit suppliers of our Local Flavours range to give an insight into local food production and our support for local food producers.
