The Hampshire Fare works with local farmers and producers to support and promote a sustainable local food economy in Hampshire. Southern Co-op is Hampshire Fare’s longest stranding corporate partner (since 2009) and Kate Hibbert, Southern Co-op’s Local Sourcing Manager, is a Board Director of Hampshire Fare, contributing Southern Co-op’s perspective as a major independent regional retailer. Many of Southern Co-op’s Local Flavours suppliers are members of Hampshire Fare.
We greatly value the support of Southern Co-op. We have a close working relationship which benefits the local producers we work with. Their Local Flavours range is key to our members as an opportunity to increase sales and raise awareness. We couldn’t do the work we do with local food and drink without the support of partners like Southern Co-op.
– Tracy Nash, Commercial Manager of Hampshire Fare
Through a shared vision of supporting local producers, Southern Co-op and Hampshire Fare work to find routes to market for Hampshire food and drink. Our Local Flavours range provides an opportunity for producers to supply directly to Southern Co-op stores to not only sell but raise the profile of their businesses. Working with local food producers enables us to fulfil our commitment to quality food, and actively put something back into the local economy.
We also get actively involved in the annual Hampshire Food Festival, organised by Hampshire Fare, which brings together farmers, producers and hospitality venues to showcase the abundance of great food and drink in Hampshire.
