South Downs Food

There is some fabulous food and drink produced in the South Downs National Park and its surrounds, from world award winning wines and cheeses, to superbly farmed meat, vegetables and fruit; over 40 breweries; and hundreds of unique and special artisan makers of delicious local products.

Southdownsfood.org aims to help local people find the food and drink that is grown and reared right on their doorstep and also to encourage visitors to come and enjoy the food and drink which comes from the beautiful landscape of this national park in southern England.

We’ve partnered with Community Interest Company Natural Partnerships and South Downs National Park Authority to provide this portal which also helps local businesses to work effectively together. Food and drink producers within the park and a ten mile radius and the local shops, cafes, hotels, bed and breakfast establishments and guest houses who serve their produce are invited to sign up for a free listing on the portal.

We have a close working relationship with the local food producers who supply our popular Local Flavours range, available in an increasing number of our stores. Supporting Southdownsfood.org is a natural extension of Southern Co-op’s commitment to championing local food and drink and the people who produce this.Gemma Lacey, Director Sustainability and Communications
