Lenham Nursery School received a special invitation to cut the ribbon to open The Southern Co-operative’s new food store on Faversham Road in Lenham and received a £500 donation.
Ahead of the store opening, the 15 new store colleagues and their manager have been working closely with the Lenham Nursery School. The store colleagues have helped the nursery to fundraise to purchase: five new storage units that enable children to access resources to help develop their self-help skills and a mobile cloakroom unit in the conservatory to house children’s belongings, creating extra space for children to develop in a safe environment.
Sarah Siddons, Nursery Manager for Lenham Nursery School said: “The £500 donation has enabled the nursery to complete its task of replacing all of the nursery furniture which is no longer fit for purpose. The Southern Co-operative’s donation together with other community projects have enabled us to purchase enough appropriate sized nursery height tables and chairs for all children to access furniture that supports good physical development to become focuses learners.”
The Southern Co-operative’s new community food store is home to a large range of fresh produce and chilled food options, an array of pastries freshly baked and available in-store every day and a selection of locally sourced products from Kent within the store’s ‘Local Flavours’ range.
The community food store will be open from 7am until 10pm, seven days a week with plenty of parking available.
Luke Reeves, Store Manager for The Southern Co-operative store on Faversham Road, Lenham, said: “My colleagues and I are thrilled to be part of The Southern Co-operative’s new store in Lenham. Our store has a wide range of fresh and locally sourced products available which I hope the people within the village will enjoy!
