22 jobs have been created with the opening of The Southern Co-operative’s second convenience food store in Eastbourne.
There has been a steady flow of customers since the store opened (9 July), according to Store Manager Kevin Hunt: “We’re really looking forward to serving the local community and supporting local good causes with their fundraising and events. It’s been a pleasure meeting our customers, I’m very approachable, so do come and talk to me to see how we can help!” He added: “Customers are commentating that they like the wide choice of fresh produce and ready meals and the convenience of being able to do a weekly shop here as well as top up on essentials.”
The Southern Co-operative is hoping to install a food bank collection point in both the new store and at its sister store in Eastbourne located at 346 Seaside, 2.5 miles away. This will complement existing food collection points in stores, including Haywards Heath, Chichester, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight as well as funding support to help the food banks to continue to operate.
