Portsmouth store to store relay raises money for charity

Colleagues working for The Southern Co-operative stores in Portsmouth are taking to the road on Friday 31 August to walk over 11 miles in a store to store relay to raise money for Canine Partners.

Around twenty colleagues together with friends and family will be walking between twelve The Southern Co-operative (TSC) stores. They plan to call into each store and collect money along the way from shoppers and passers-by for TSC’s charity of the year Canine Partners.

Phil Hall, Store Manager at the Twyford Avenue TSC in Tipner, who organised the relay, said: “The Portsmouth stores were inspired by the 2012 Paralympics to hold this event as our charity of the year, Canine Partners, does so much to help people with disabilities be more independent. The whole route will total over 11 miles but everyone taking part has the choice to do the whole walk or do as much or little as they want from store to store!”

The relay starts from The Southern Co-operative’s central support at 1000 Lakeside at 9am and travels between TSC stores between Cosham and Southsea, ending at Isambard Brunel Road by 4pm.
