Bournemouth store opening supports local play centre

17 jobs have been created with the opening of The Southern Co-operative’s newest store in Bournemouth (9 April).

The new store, which is located on the junction of Kinson Road and East Howe Lane, was officially opened by local charity, Fernheath Play and store manager Dave Strutt (pictured 1st on left). “The store has been really well received,” said Dave, adding: “our customers love that we are so conveniently located for them and they like the range of products available. We’ve been really busy since opening; it’s great to be part of the local community.”

The first 50 customers on opening day were treated to a complimentary box of chocolates and all shoppers have the chance to win £150 co-operative vouchers for giving their feedback about the new store by 23 April. The Southern Co-operative also donated £500 to Fernheath Play to celebrate the store opening.

Fernheath Play’s Acting Manager Paul Webster (pictured 2nd left) said: “As a charity, we’re always seeking funds to support our work in the community and this £500 donation from The Southern Co-operative will assist us. I’d like to thank them for being involved and for this donation.”Fernheath Play provides opportunities for children in the Bournemouth community seven days a week during both term times and school holidays. It also runs groups, on behalf of local authorities, for children with special needs.

The store is open 7am-11pm seven days a week.
