On 11th January 2012, Charlie Wright, of The Grocer writes:
The Southern Co-operative has posted a rise in like-for-like sales of more than 4% on the three weeks to 1st January 2012.
Total sales for the mutual in the Christmas week were up 18% over 2010, buoyed by the addition of 13 new food stores to its estate in 2011.
“We have achieved like-for-like increases that are among the best in the industry,” said Chief Executive Mark Smith.
“That is at the same time as rapidly growing our estate. Once again our store teams made great efforts to ensure service was maintained to a very high standard. Our thanks go to them for a very successful seasonal trading period.”
