Yapton Primary School pupils cut ribbon to open extended store

Pupils from Yapton Primary School officially reopened The Southern Co-operative store and post office in Yapton in West Sussex (28 March) which has been extended and refurbished.

Customers visiting the store on opening day enjoyed samples of West Sussex produce from The Southern Co-operative’s Local Flavours range stocked at the store, including Wobblegate apple juice, Bookham Sussex Charmer cheese, Deerview preserves, Goodwood Farm ale, lager and cheeses, Montezuma’s chocolate and High Weald dairy cheese. These and many more local products are now stocked in the expanded Local Flavours range in the new store.

Eden Kirkby, Retail Business Manager, said: “The store is now around 70% larger than before and has been refitted to improve the range of produce available and shopping environment, as well as enabling us to include more energy saving measures.” Eden added: “This has gone down well with customers and we’ve been extremely busy since opening; customers like the greater choice and improved size of the store. We’ve also had compliments from a disabled shopper who says it’s much easier to get around.” The opening hours of the Post Office, which now operate from two dedicated tills in the main retail counter area, have also been extended to match the store’s opening hours, making it more convenient to shoppers.

The Southern Co-operative donated £500 to Yapton Primary School as a thank you for opening the store. Customers have the opportunity to win £150 co-operative vouchers simply by giving their feedback about the new store by 11 April.

The store, which is located on Main Road, Yapton, is open 6am-11pm Monday to Saturday and 7am-11pm on Sundays.
