The Southern Co-operative’s Odiham store is inviting bids from local charities and good causes to receive a donation of up to £10,000 from its Community Support Card scheme for 2014.
The Southern Co-operative’s Community Support Card (CSC) scheme, which is run in selected food stores across the south each year, is driven by customers but doesn’t cost shoppers anything to support. Retail Business Manager at its Odiham store, James Knott, explained: “Our CSC scheme is a great way for local charities and organisations to raise thousands of pounds with the backing of our customers. Local good causes need to complete an application form by 15 February, which they can pick up here at the store.”
James added: “The scheme’s recipients are then chosen by a panel made up of members of The Southern Co-operative who live locally and the team here at the store, as we believe that local people know best what will benefit the community most. We’ll launch the scheme, which runs for up to one year, with a free community party. Customers can show their support simply by requesting a green CSC card, which we issue free in the store, and having this swiped every time they shop here. The more cards are swiped, the quicker The Southern Co-operative donates towards the £10,000 total available; it’s that simple.”
Last July, The Southern Co-operative donated £3000 each to North Warnborough Community Football Support Association and the Jack Bland Memorial Fund from its 2012/13 Community Support Card scheme. James summed up: “As a co-operative, supporting our local community is key to our ethos and business success. The support we get here in Odiham is usually really good for our fundraising campaigns, so I would urge local good causes and charities to call into the store and apply for this £10,000 scheme.”
The Southern Co-operative’s store in Odiham is located in the High Street.
