The Southern Co-operative’s food store in Holbury has recently donated £190 to the Honeypot Children’s Charity with funds raised from collection tins, placed in store since July 2016.
Chosen by our Holbury store, the Honeypot Children’s Charity is their charity fundraising partner for the year. The charity works to enhance the lives of young carers and vulnerable children aged 5 to 12 by providing respite breaks and ongoing outreach support. As part of The Southern Co-operative’s ‘Love Your Neighbourhood’ community programme, colleagues from the Holbury store will participate in various fundraising activities and support the charity’s events throughout the year.
The money raised from the charity tins will enable Honeypot to purchase Christmas gifts for 10 local Honeypot children. Furthermore, as part of the store’s continued support, they have also donated a variety of goodies, including squash, chocolates, napkins and cups for Honeypot’s annual Christmas Carol Concert.
Will Baddick, Store Manager at the Holbury store, said: “It is extremely important for us to be able to support the people in our local community, and we were delighted to hear that the funds raised will benefit the lives of the remarkable children from the Honeypot Children’s Charity. Without the kind generosity of our customers this would not have been possible, so I’d like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who donated. As well as fundraising for this fantastic charity, we are also pleased to be able to offer a home for the charity’s Playbus, for on the occasions that they come to the area to offer respite and fun to the local Honeypot children.”
Laura Coleman, Regional Fundraising Manager for the charity, said: “The Honeypot Children’s Charity is very grateful to The Southern Co-operative for continuing to support the charity and for hosting the Playbus at their Holbury site. It is never easy to find suitable hosts for our Playbus but Will and his team have been great in enabling us to reach our local Honeypot children. Not only do they help with parking access and toilet facilities, they also provide goodies for the children, making their experience even more special. Thank you so much and we look forward to continuing this partnership into 2017 and beyond!”
