Colleagues from The Southern Co-operative’s Denmead store are looking forward to hosting and supporting a variety of events and activities throughout the year to help raise funds for its local infant school.
Sam Burton, Denmead Infant School PTA Chair, said:
“We are delighted to have been chosen as the charity partner for The Southern Co-operative store in Denmead. As a PTA we rely heavily on the support from the parent/carer community and have been working to promote our relationships with local businesses, so it’s a huge boost to have the Southern Co-op helping us like this. The much-needed funds we hope to raise will benefit our children as we can provide IT resources to help them develop valuable skills for the future, in a safe, structured environment.”
The fundraising partnership forms part of The Southern Co-operative’s community engagement programme, ‘Love Your Neighbourhood’. This initiative addresses four key social themes, as identified by a survey of over 4,000 members and colleagues, for promoting: ‘Greener Neighbourhoods’, ‘Healthier Neighbourhoods’, ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’, and ‘More Inclusive Neighbourhoods’.
Charities and community groups can also apply for cash donations or goods in kind through the ‘Love Your Neighbourhood’ scheme which is funded by the 5p single-use carrier bag levy.
