Last week The Southern Co-operative held our ‘Corporate Charity Awareness Week’ throughout the business, aiming to fundraise as much as possible for the worthwhile charity CHICKS. We have already supported the charity for one year, and in June it was decided CHICKS would be our corporate charity for a second year too. CHICKS is a children’s charity that provides respite breaks away for kids that have come from disadvantaged backgrounds, are child carers or have been abused. All of the money that The Southern Co-operative raises goes directly towards funding breaks away for children in our trading area. Last year we paid for 170 children’s holidays and we would like to match that remarkable amount this year too.

On Sunday 26th June thousands flocked to Southsea to take part in Portsmouth Festivities ‘Space City’, inspired by the City’s motto ‘Heavens Light our Guide’.

Portsmouth Festivities is an eleven day annual arts festival presenting a diverse programme of events celebrating Portsmouth’s history and heritage, whilst providing opportunities for the young people, with a focus on engaging them with the arts.
