Heading global

FROM a Moroccan fez to a cowboy hat, staff at the North Harbour head office of The Southern Co-operative have been getting multicultural in the headwear department.

It’s all to do with the launch of the International Year of Co-operatives,organised by the United Nations to show how co-operatives can ‘build a better world’.

New Southern Co-op Funeralcare opens in Isle of Wight

On the 25th of January 2012, The Southern Co-operative Funeralcare at 1 The Fairway, Lake officially opened the branch and held a dedication ceremony for their Chapel of Rest.

National Association of Funeral Directors’ President, Andrew Pargetter opened the proceedings saying: ‘The NAFD sets the standard of practice for its member funeral directors, and I would like to congratulate the team here on IOW and believe these premises will be of significant benefit to their clients. I wish this funeral home in Lake every success in the future.”

Store card to benefit groups

The Southern Co-operative store in Alresford aims to raise £15,000 by the end of the year in order to help the local Rugby Club and Busy Bee’s Pre-school.

The Southern Co-operative is announcing the re-launch of its fundraising campaign through their Community Support Card scheme. Father Christmas, alias store manager Derek Hawkins, brought an extra special present to the Alresford Rugby Club and Busy Bee’s Pre-school when he announced that they were this year’s chosen recipients for the possible £15,000 fund.

Changing the face of men’s health at Central Support…

During November a few of you may have noticed men walking around The Southern Co-operative with slightly more upper lip hair than usual. For those of you that didn’t know, this was in aid of Movember. A month-long period of men sporting moustaches to raise funds and awareness for men’s health, in particular prostate and testicular cancer.
