Gosport Art Exhibition

DOZENS of paintings, photographs and sculptures are on display at a popular open art exhibition.

Gosport Open Art 2012 is a collection of work by artists from the town.

This year’s exhibition is proving to be one of the most popular yet, with hundreds of submissions from people in the area.

Pupils put their hats on to create a ‘Smarter’ City

On the 22nd of February, students from across Portsmouth pitched their proposals on how to make their city ‘smarter’. For the last four weeks the students have been developing enterprising ideas on how technology could improve retail, energy usage and transportation within the city. The Charter Academy was the winner, with their retail idea.

Rising the Challenge

 

The Southern Co-operative is supporting the Rowans Hospice new challenge: the attempt to break a World record with the oldest abseilor in the world, Doris Long. Our challenge is to bring together 98 colleagues to abseil with her on the 19th of May.

The Southern Co-operative shows support to Romsey Chamber of Commerce

The Southern Co-operative presented a cheque for £1000 to Romsey and District Chamber of Commerce last week. The presentation was made by Claire Walls, manager of The Southern Co-operative, Romsey, and member of the Chamber’s executive committee and received by Steve Corbett, Manager of Waitrose, Romsey and Vice president of the chamber.

A first for the funeral industry

Wokingham funeral co-ordinator Linda Lawton is one of only 10 students in the country to have graduated with a degree aimed at those building a career in the funeral service.

Linda Lawton from J B Hall in Wokingham was one of the first wave of students to qualify with a Foundation Degree in Funeral Services from the University of Bath.

Presentation of a CSC at Haywards Heath Co-operative

Two worthy causes in Haywards Heath were presented with cheques for £4,100 each from The Southern Co-operative, raised as a result of the Community Support Card scheme running at the Southern Co-operative store in the town. Last Saturday, local groups Kangaroos and 4SIGHT were given the donations at The Co-operative Haywards Heath.
