Jayne Brading overcame her fear of deep water to help raise funds for the Isle of Wight Earl Mountbatten Hospice at their recent Newfoundland Dog Rescue Day.
Jayne, who is Funeral Co-ordinator at The Southern Co-operative’s Newport Funeralcare Home, jumped into the River Medina in the name of charity to be dragged to safety by a Newfoundland rescue dog. Fund-raisers were asked to donate £20 for each rescue, and despite her fear, Jayne jumped in twice! With the support of The Southern Co-operative Funeralcare, Jayne raised a total of £150 for the hospice, and said; “I thoroughly enjoyed my day despite my reservations about jumping into the river, and the fact that it raised money for such a worthwhile charity, was the icing on the cake!”
