Toddlers say it with flowers

Budding florists, as young as two, had the chance to get creative with a visit to The Southern Co-operative’s florist at Lakeside North Harbour, Portsmouth.

Manager of Tops Day Nursery at Lakeside, Emma Mullis, arranged the visit to enable children, aged 2-4 years, to enjoy a new experience. Emma explained: “We’re keen for our children to get out in to the community and for the Nursery to build links with our business neighbours and the people who work here at Lakeside, so I approached The Southern Co-operative’s floristry team who were very welcoming.”

Each child made a basket of fresh flowers to take home with them, having been shown how to by The Southern Co-operative florist’s Team Leader, Donna Hooper, who said: “I don’t know who enjoyed the visit more, us or the children, they were delightful!” Both the florist and nursery opened late 2012 to cater for the business community at Lakeside North Harbour as well as the surrounding neighbourhood.
