1000 Lakeside is the new home for the Southern Co-operative

The Southern Co-operative, which operates community food stores and funeral homes across the south, is moving to 1000 Lakeside, after outgrowing its Fareham head office premises.

The Southern Co-operative employs 3,500 people generating £260 million in sales and has ambitious further expansion plans. Chief Executive Mark Smith said: “This is a hugely exciting development for us all that will enable us to support our stores in delivering continuous improvement in customer service into the future.”

The letting of the 15,300 sq ft is one of the schemes largest to date, and highlights its appeal to a wide range of business sectors. More than 100 staff from the Southern Co-operative will relocate to 1000 Lakeside, in a move which is expected to take place in the summer.

I just wished to say how devastated I was to see your Milton Road, Waterlooville store on fire last evening and the damage done to it. It has been our “round the corner” convenience store since it opened and we are already missing it.
Needless to say that we hope that it will be rebuilt in due course.
We hope that none of the staff was injured.
