The Southern Co-operative opens new store in City Road, Winchester

On 9th November, 2011, The Southern Co-operative opened a new premium neighbourhood top up store in Winchester city centre.

The Right Worshipful, the Mayor of Winchester, Councillor Barry Lipscomb attended the opening ceremony and received a donation of £500, presented as a large cheque, to the Mayor’s Charity Appeal Fund. The money will be shared amongst The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, The Rifles’ Care for Casualties appeal and Winchester Cancer Research Trust.

The Mayor of Winchester and Store Manager, Alex Bland, shared the ribbon cutting to officially declare the store open.

Store Manager, Alex Bland said: “This store will serve our local community by providing the usual wide range of products that customers have come to expect from The Southern Co-operative, including fresh produce, fresh meat, dairy products, an instore bakery along with Fair-trade, healthy living and Truly Irresistible ranges.”
